Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist

Alison has been a nurse for over 40 years.  Her career has spanned from Coronary Care through hypertension, Research Nurse to Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist.  

She has been in Diabetes Nursing for over 20 years starting at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and then Kings College Hospital where she became the Diabetes Matron.  Having "retired and returned" she currently works at University College Hospital London, where she provides support for patients with Type 1 Diabetes using diabetes technology as well as supporting the DSN Team with inpatient care.  

Alison has collaborated in many research and clinical practice projects.  The results of which have been published in journals and books.  She has sat on several committees for national and local guidelines in the management of Diabetes.  

Alison has presented at national and international conferences both for poster and oral presentations on several subjects including hypertension and diabetes management.

Her interests and specialist areas include the improvement of Diabetes Inpatient Care, Type 1 Diabetes,  CSII, CGM and HCL. 

During Covid, Alison joined the team of healthcare professionals from across the UK in the @_diabetes101 account. The team were delighted to win Collaborative Team of the Year and Unsung Heroes at the Quality in Care Diabetes awards in 2021.
