Vicki qualified as a nurse in 2002 starting her nursing career on the surgical HPB and transplant unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
She became a DSN in 2005 and a non medical prescriber in 2008. Vicki completed her MSc in Diabetes Practice in 2022 at the Swansea University and won two awards for the highest dissertation mark and highest overall mark within her cohort.
Vicki has worked within diabetes outpatients, research, diabetes and pregnancy, inpatients and community in both the midlands and the North West. Vicki joined the EDEN team at Leicester Diabetes Centre in 2021 and also works as a DSN within primary care at a GP surgery in Loughborough.
Vicki’s interests include type 2 diabetes management in primary care, type 3c diabetes, steroid induced diabetes and diabetes technology.
Vicki joined the DSN Forum leadership team in March 2020 and is also part of the MDT Diabetes 101 twitter team. Vicki is also a Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) committee member.
Vicki was awarded the QiC Diabetes Professional of the Year in 2020 after nomination from her colleagues. She also won two QiC awards in 2021 as part of the Diabetes 101 twitter team.
