Donna currently works as a Lead Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse for the NHS in Newcastle. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes Clinical Care and Management with Kings College and is a non-medical prescriber.

Donna also works for Spirit Healthcare as their Clinical Lead for their Empower structured education programmes.

Donna has worked alongside the Diabetes Safety Organisation putting together their training programme for their workplace hypo kit.

During Covid, Donna joined a team of healthcare professionals from across the UK in the @_diabetes101 account. The team were delighted to win Collaborative Team of the Year and Unsung Heroes at the Quality in Care Diabetes awards in 2021.

Donna has had pieces of work about diabetes care published and her main interests are in education, type 2 diabetes and technology.
