General Practice
As a pharmacist I have always had an interest in supporting patients to live well with diabetes, having lived with type 1 diabetes myself since the age of 4. A move to general practice in 2018 has allowed me to develop this interest further. In 2020 I qualified as an independent prescriber with diabetes as my therapeutic focus, and in 2022 I completed a PGDip in Diabetes Practice.
I also hold a PCN diabetes clinic and I have been appointed diabetes lead by my practice group (24,000 patients) . These roles involve management of more complex diabetes patients, insulin initiation and adjustment, and initiation & review of CGM. We are a teaching practice, and I support the practice with teaching and supervision. I engage with the wider diabetes network, both locally and nationally via social media and conferences, and have delivered teaching at local training events to both primary and secondary care colleagues.
Since September 2023 I have been a committee member of the Primary Care Diabetes & Obesity Society.
